Dr Emily Molyneux - Clinical Psychologist (DPsych)

Time alone doesn’t heal our emotional and relational wounds, but time AND a process can.

My role is to provide that process. I am a registered Clinical Psychologist with a warm, compassionate style who enjoys creating safe, healthy therapeutic relationships with my clients. I aim to provide a therapeutic balance of understanding and validation alongside gentle empathic confrontation. We need both of these to thrive and grow.

Over the first couple of sessions, I aim to get to know you and the issues you face. I assess what is causing the issues, and more importantly, what is keeping the issue going! I will work together with you to understand what you want to get out of the therapy process, and create a bespoke, evidence-based plan to achieve your emotional and relational goals.

I enjoy working with you to discover what you need, and how to get those needs met. This often involves learning new skills to manage our emotions and relationships more effectively, and for some, will also mean processing the events and memories that are driving your distress. Both are important.

People that come to see me may have tried Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) or similar, and are looking for modalities that are more helpful for building insight, changing unhelpful patterns, building emotional regulation skills, building self-compassion, and healing from painful wounds and memories.

Evidence-based treatment modalities I use include:

  • Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)

  • Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

  • Schema Therapy

  • Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR)

  • Mindful Self-Compassion

I can also work with people who are looking for a psychologist who understands and is equipped to work with their faith perspective. This can involve using your faith as a resource in therapy, and/or working through religious trauma. Mention this when making contact if this is important to you.

Ages 16+ and adults.
